Teaching Italian is my Passion

Some of you have been with La Coccinella for a while now, and probably know about me. However, for families who have just joined La Coccinella Preschool, here is a little information about my teaching and professional experience.

I have almost been teaching for 3 decades! I can hardly believe it!

After graduating, my career began teaching Italian in Shepparton, in 2 country schools. I then began my teaching career in schools in Melbourne, teaching Italian through the arts ( visual and performing arts) and as a classroom teacher. I studied Italian at Melbourne University and later earned my L.O.T.E. Methodology (Languages other than English- qualification to teach Italian in schools) at La Trobe University. Where I also lectured in the Arts for Post Graduate in Teaching in 2010.

With scholarships in hand, travelled to Perugia University twice. I travel to Italy each year to maintain and improve my language proficiency.

I also taught at Brunswick North West Kindergarten, in their Italian Immersion Program, in its first year of introduction.

I worked as a classroom teacher in Early Years classrooms. My later experience in State Schools as a Leading Teacher in Middle School, grades 5 & 6. Furthermore, I am a registered V.I.T. (Victorian Institute of Teaching) teacher. All teachers in Victoria must be registered in order to teach in schools.

So, you can see that teaching WAS and IS my PASSION! The development of curriculum and the teaching of language, is a result of many years of experience working and teaching children.
We may not be the biggest Italian scuola, but we pride ourselves on delivering a QUALITY Italian program to you and your children. I feel very passionate about passing on the gift of the Italian language to your children.

It is important for parents to know that all my teachers are carefully screened, have Working Children’s checks and LOVE working with your children. Their learning environment and their care is the most important priority for us.
